The Josephine Municipal Development District (MDD) is a voter‑approved economic and community development corporation created under Chapter 377 of the Texas Local Government Code to help guide and finance projects that strengthen quality of life, support local businesses, and expand the city’s economic base. Governed by a five‑member board appointed by the City Council, the District operates as a political subdivision of the City of Josephine and invests its dedicated sales tax revenue into projects that benefit residents and promote long‑term growth. Meetings are open to the public, and an agenda is posted at City Hall, the Post Office, City Park Bulletin Board, and on the city website on our Agendas & Minutes page at least three business days preceding the scheduled time of said meeting.

The Josephine Municipal Development District (MDD) is a political subdivision established by voters in November 2024 to create economic development opportunities within the City of Josephine and Josephine ETJ. The MDD includes property within Josephine city limits, except the portion of Josephine that lies within Hunt Co., and all of Josephine ETJ.
The MDD is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for managing and overseeing the property, affairs, and programs of the District, subject to state law and MDD bylaws. The Board consists of five (5) Directors, appointed by the City Council. Each Director must be a resident of the District. Directors serve staggered two-year terms to ensure continuity and effective leadership. Meetings will be held at least quarterly or more often if required.
Board Members must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Current or former CEO/ CFO of a company or organization
- Current/former executive management professional
- Serve in a professional capacity for business, non-profit, public or similar organization
- Small business owner
Equivalent experience to the above, individual accomplishments, and educational background will be considered.
