City codes and ordinances have been created to protect the health, safety and quality of life of our residents.
Josephine Code makes sure city codes and ordinances are met so Josephine continues to be a livable city. We do this by educating, collaborating and partnering with neighborhoods, local businesses, non-profits, and other City of Josephine departments.
Code Enforcement is responsible for addressing nuisance and property standard violations to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the community. These violations include high weeds and grass, trash and debris, illegal dumping, home occupations and abandoned vehicles. The main goal of this enforcement is to reduce neighborhood deterioration and to ensure property values.

High Grass & Weeds
Not only are high grass and weeds unsightly, but they also pose a fire hazard, block visibility for drivers, harbor rodents and snakes and contribute to pests such as mosquitoes and chiggers.
City code requires property owners to keep grass and weeds in their yards and vacant lots under 12 inches.
If your grass is taller than 12 inches, you will receive a letter allowing you 10 days to mow it. If it is not mowed within 10 days, you will receive a second notice. If property is not brought into compliance, you could receive a citation. If you need an extension, please call City Hall.
To report code enforcement violations, please contact City Hall at (972) 843-8282, or complete the Code Enforcement Complaint Form and return it to City Hall.
