Public Information / Records Requests
Please read this entire section before submitting a request for a police report. The City of Josephine does not accept verbal records requests under the Freedom of Information Act/ Public Information Act.

Please be aware a criminal offense report and associated items such as videos, photos, etc are not considered public information and will not be released unless the case was closed by conviction (someone was arrested, convicted and received jail/prison time and/or deferred adjudication and/or a fine). The only portion that can be released in most cases is the public information portion and suspect information if a suspect(s) was arrested and charged. The public information portion contains a summary of the crime, the complainant's name, address, date, time and location of the incident the responding Officer's name(s), the incident number, and is generally all the information needed by your insurance company, if you need the report for a claim.
To request the public information portion, please specify you are seeking the public information report and send your request via only one of the following methods:

In your request, provide as much information as possible so the report can be located, such as the:
JPD Incident Number (sometimes referred to as case number or offense report number),
Name(s), DOB, Driver's License and/or SSN of the parties involved, date/location (address) of the incident, and type of incident. Specify "public information report" & include your postal mailing address.
If the case was not closed by conviction and you submit an open records request for the whole report (or if you do not specify “public information report” in your request), your request will be forwarded to the Texas Attorney General's Office for a ruling as to whether or not we can release the full report, a process which takes around 60 business days.
To make a complaint against a City of Josephine Police Officer, please follow all directions and return the original completed forms either by mail or in person, faxed versions of this form will NOT be accepted.

Police Employment Opportunities:
The Josephine Police Department is currently accepting applications for Full-time officers.
Certified officers who are looking to be part of a community oriented police department with a friendly working atmosphere as well as work in a small but growing rural community are encouraged to fill out a Personal History Statement
Must be a TCOLE Certified Peace Officer with at least two (2) years experience
Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of hire
Be a graduate of an accredited high school or have an equivalency certificate with at least 12 hours of college credit or have an honorable discharge from the armed forces after 24 months of active duty service
Have a valid Texas driver’s license at the date of hire
Be a citizen of the United States by birth or naturalization
Be able to read, write, and speak the English language
Be of good moral character
Must have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings to include: an extensive background investigation, a polygraph, psychological exam, physicians physical and drug screen
Pass oral interviews
Shall not be prohibited from carrying a firearm or possessing ammunition
Shall not have engaged in, received deferred adjudication or pre-trail diversion for, or have been convicted of: conduct that constitutes a Class B Misdemeanor under Penal Code or equivalent under federal law, to include the Uniform Code of Military Justice, or any conduct that may be unsuitable for employment

The Josephine Police Department is currently accepting applications for Reserve officers.
Two (2) years prior police experience, meet all current TCOLE requirements and hold a current valid TCOLE Peace Officer certification. You MUST be able to work 24 hrs. per month (preferable 8 hr. shifts) on a scheduled basis. Must supply own duty belt and .40 Glock (22/23 preferred)
